Belgian brothers Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike have come a very long way in a very short period of time. In just two years, they’ve bypassed the usual steps to making it big by proving they have super-star quality in everything they do. They are sought after producers, remixers to the A-list elite and number 1 hit makers. The accolades they’ve clocked up within this relatively short time are equal to those some DJ stalwarts amass during a lifetime!
In 2009 their remix of ‘Work That Body’ gathered global media attention and sparked the interest of Axwell, who immediately commissioned them for Abel Ramos’ ‘Rotterdam City of Love’. The success that came with this remix topped every major download chart in the world, and with this, the requests came flooding in. Everyone from Tiësto to Snoop Dogg fell under the spell of Dimitri and Mike, and their interpretation of 'Leave The World Behind' by Axwell, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, Laidback Luke and Deborah Cox, became the soundtrack to Ibiza 2009, as the Swedes relentlessly hammered it every week at their ‘Dark Forest’ residency at Pacha. This led to Sebastian Ingrosso name checking them as ‘Breakthrough Producers of the Year’ in the coveted DJ Magazine, DJ Mag.
The burgeoning duo is also highly accomplished producers with a string of top-flight results to their name. They scored number one in Belgium with ‘Liquid Skies’, and their version of ‘Pump Up The Jam’ with Technotronic on Refune was one of the most heavily supported tracks of the year. In 2010 they co-produced the smash single ‘Tomorrow’ with Dada Life that went on to become the anthem for Belgian super-festival Tomorrowland, and sparked a flourishing relationship with organisers ID&T.
Under their guidance the future is looking very bright for the brothers, with a tour schedule that’s beginning to read like the departure board of JFK. Remixes and releases are already lined up for labels including Size, Subliminal and Axtone; collaborations with some of the world’s biggest stars are already under way, and a debut album is in the pipeline before this year is out. Ladies and gentlemen, let’s not forget that their story is still in its infancy and this really is just the very beginning of that will be a very eventful and successful journey.
